As ladies, we all love getting our nails done, we love the look of a new set of acrylics on us but removing our acrylic nails could become problematic in the sense it could hurt us in the process and it comes at an additional cost, so we trying not to take them off by constantly refilling our acrylic nails or the thought of removing our acrylic nails prevents some of us from fixing our acrylic nails.
Removing acrylic nails does not have to be problematic, that is why I’m writing this blogpost to provide a solution to one of our acrylic nails problem.
A mixture of vinegar and rubbing alcohol will help to remove your acrylic nails.
You can do that in the following steps:
- Cut your acrylic nails shorter.
- Mix vinegar and rubbing alcohol in a cup.
- Then soak your nails in the mixture for twenty to thirty minutes.
- After twenty to thirty minutes, you need to wash your hands with soap and water.
- Moisturize your nails with cuticle oil or hand cream.
When you want to take off your acrylic nails the first thing you need to do for ease is trim your acrylic nails.
You need to take your time with this step in order to prevent your acrylic nails from splitting with your natural nails.
You will need a nail clipper and a nail file for this step.
Trim your acrylic nails in the following steps
- Use a nail clipper that is suitable for you.
- Starting with the outer edges carefully trim the nails with your clippers.
- Once you have successfully trimmed the edge of your finger nails, you need to file your nails to remove the first layer of the acrylic nails and also give you a smooth surface.
After you have trimmed your acrylic nails you will need, rubbing alcohol, a bowl, a towel, petroleum jelly, moisturiser, a nail buffer, a top coat and an orange stick. Go ahead with the following steps:
- Apply petroleum jelly around the skin of your nails, try not to apply it on your acrylic nails as it will slow down the dissolve process.
- Fill up a bowl with rubbing alcohol, soak your finger nails in the bowl for about twenty to thirty minutes.
- After about thirty minutes check to see how weak your acrylic nails have become, begin to scrape what’s left of your acrylic nails with an orange stick.
- Repeat this process with your other hand.
- Once your acrylic nails have been removed from both hands be sure to file and buff your natural nails.
- Wash your hands with soap and water.
- Dry your hands with the towel.
- Apply moisturiser.
- It is advisable to apply a top coat on your finger nails to give them strength.
There is another way you can remove your acrylic nails with rubbing alcohol. After you have trimmed your acrylic nails you will need, rubbing alcohol, cotton ball, towel, a thin foil, petroleum jelly, moisturiser, a nail buffer, a top coat. Go ahead with the following steps:
- Apply petroleum jelly around the skin of your nails, try not to apply it on your acrylic nails as it will slow down the dissolve process.
- Soak the cotton balls in rubbing alcohol.
- Then placed the soaked cotton ball directly on your nails, immediately wrap with a thin foil tightly and firm. When you squeeze you’re the foil the rubbing alcohol should drip that is how you know you have enough rubbing alcohol to do the job.
- Leave the cotton balls and foil on your nails for about twenty minutes.
- If you want to go the extra mile, place a hot towel on your wrapped foil, this helps to speed up the process.
- Moisturize your nails once the whole process has been done.
- Apply nail treatment and top coat to strengthen your nail bed.

You can take off your nails without rubbing alcohol, you can take of your nails with just hot water, this is one of the easiest, safest and gentlest way to take off your acrylic nails. The only thing is that it might be longest way to get an acrylic nail off so you will need patience with this method. You will need, a bowl, warm water, an orange stick, moisturizer, top coat, and nail file.
The process is:
- Of course we already know that we have to trim our acrylic nails to the shortest it can be.
- Use your orange stick to create space between your acrylic nails and your natural nail, you need to do this gently in order not to hurt yourself.
- Fill the bowl with warm water, make sure it is a temperature you can put your hands in and not get burnt.
- Soak your nails in the water for thirty to forty minutes. The aim of this process is to dissolve the nail glue so deep at an angle where the warm water can get through to the space you made with the orange stick.
- If the nails are proving stubborn, change the water as it might have gotten cooler. Get another warm water that you are comfortable with, soak your hands in it and be patient.
- Once your acrylic nails are off make sure to moisturize your hands.
- Apply top coat for strength.
